Meeting with Members of State!!
I have something really exciting to share with you guys! On February 7th, I headed up to California’s State Capitol, Sacramento, for a meet and greet with members of the California State Senate! We discussed all things health and fitness for the citizens of The Golden State.
California State Assembly members sponsored a legislative resolution proclaiming the first week of February as California Fitness Week! The Bill, “Proclaims the week of February 3 to February 9, 2019, as California Fitness Week, and encourages all Californians to enrich their lives through proper nutrition and exercise.”
According to The Bill, the rate of adult obesity in California is steadily rising, the majority of children in California are not physically fit, and the average child in California drinks at least one sugary beverage per day! That. Is. Terrible. And a sure way to even higher rates of obesity in the future.
I was so honored to be invited to meet with the Heads of State to discuss these issues. Health and Fitness are topics so close to my heart and so important to me (obviously). I was just in LA for the Fitness Expo with Trifecta on January 26th. Talking with and educating people about proper nutrition and exercise is so incredibly important for the health of all our futures. My greatest goal is to inspire people to be healthy, happy, and confident! This Legislature was designed to encourage the citizens of California to embrace a healthier lifestyle that will encourage less sickness, lower risk of critical health events, and a richer quality of a long life. Even though California ranks 47th among the United States in adult obesity, it is so important to reverse the rate of obesity and other chronic diseases. I believe that movements like this legislature are great steps towards a healthier California, which is why I was so excited to chat with its leaders.
California may not be my place of birth, but it has been my home for many years. I am calling out all my People for the rest of February to get out for some fitness! Grab a friend and hit up a local gym or affiliate this month, get outside for some wilderness fitness, take a healthy eating cooking class, something! Get out there People, make the most of what I am calling Fitness Month!
